ST. LOUIS — More than half of this year’s honorees at the Mayor’s Celebration of Business have built new projects in St. Louis. The annual event is scheduled for Oct. 1 and will bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs and community stakeholders to recognize companies making an impact in the city.
For Stephen Westbrooks, president and CEO of the St. Louis Development Corporation, the honorees reflect a trend he believes is helping drive the city forward.
“What stands out to me the most about this year’s awardees is that over half of them have built something new in the city,” Westbrooks said.
He said that new construction creates benefits that extend beyond the individual projects.
“So new construction, that means new jobs. That means adding to the tax base. That means new activity in the city that can have ripple effects throughout the region,” Westbrooks said.
Tickets and sponsorships for the Mayor’s Celebration of Business are still available through the St. Louis Development Cooperation. The event will also feature Mayor Cara Spencer with FOX 2’s Laura Simon is the emcee.
