A crypto exchange API gives a young product working swaps on top of someone else’s liquidity. The startup requests a quote and shows the user a deposit address. Routing and settlement happen on the provider’s side, and the startup earns a share of each completed swap.
Five providers stand out for early-stage teams in 2026. We rated each one on assets, key features, the type of startup it suits and commission rates. ChangeNOW came out as the best crypto exchange API for startups that need broad coverage and income from day one, while the other top four are strong in more specific areas that we described.
Why Startups Use an API
For a small team, building swaps in-house is a big job. Each liquidityposit tracking. Owners end up maintaining exchange plumbing instead of the product users came for
We rated each provider using different criteria.
- Assets: shows the size of each catalogue and the number of networks it covers.
- Commission rates: explains what a partner earns per swap.
- Key features: lists the tools that set each API apart.
- Best for: names the type of startup that gains the most from it.
| Provider | Assets | Commission rates | Key features | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChangeNOW | 1,500+ assets on 90+ networks | Default 0.4%, adjustable per asset or pair; can be paid in fiat | Fiat on request; private transfers | Early wallets and payment apps |
| Flashift | 1,500+ coins on 100+ blockchains | Your own markup | AI rate tags | Telegram bots and rate-focused wallets |
| RocketX | 20,000+ tokens on 200+ blockchains | 0.2–0.4% platform fee; The maximum allowable fee is 3% | Hybrid CEX-DEX routing, one-step cross-chain swaps | GameFi and multi-chain dApps |
| SwapSpace | 3,600+ cryptocurrencies on 675 networks | up to 0.5%; | 40+ providers per quote, KYC odds per quote | Wallets and bots that show several quotes |
| li.fi | 50,000+ token pairs on 70+ chains | Your own fee on top of 0.25% | pairs on 60+ chains Bridge and DEX routing, free plan up to 200 requests per minute | Self-custody wallets and DeFi apps |
Figures come from each provider’s official pages and announcements, checked in October 2026. Terms change, so confirm them before you integrate.
1. ChangeNOW
ChangeNOW is a strong fit for early wallets and payment apps that want swaps and fiat through one integration. It supports more than 1,500 assets on over 90 networks. Combined, they form more than 2.25 million exchange pairs, and a user who asks for a less common pair has a good chance of finding it here.
The adaptable instant swap API handles both standard and fixed-rate exchanges. The fixed-rate option helps in checkout flows where the final amount has to be exact. Fiat on- and off-ramp is available on request. A team can add card purchases later through the same partner.
ChangeNOW states that a basic integration can be finished within a few hours. Maintenance after launch stays on its side. The API answers in about 350 milliseconds, with 99.99% stated uptime.
Partner commission starts at 0.4% and can be changed. You can also give specific assets or pairs their own rate. Profits can be withdrawn at any time in 11 cryptocurrencies, and fiat withdrawal is supported as well.
Best for: early wallets and payment apps that want swaps and fiat through one integration.
2. Flashift
Flashift is an aggregator, it requests quotes from a group of non-custodial swap services and shows the best one available at that moment. Most swaps go through without an account.
The catalogue covers over 1,500 coins on more than 100 blockchains. Users choose between fixed and floating rates.
Flashift’s pitch is built around its AI tagging system. As quotes come back from partner exchanges, the system labels them with tags such as AI Best Rate and Recommended. A user can spot the strongest quote at a glance instead of comparing a list of numbers.
A startup earns by setting its own markup on top of the swap, and that markup can be adjusted to the product’s positioning.
Best for: Telegram bots and wallets that compete on rates.
3. RocketX
RocketX lists more than 20,000 tokens across 200-plus blockchains. Its hybrid router draws liquidity from over 500 centralized and decentralized exchanges.
Cross-chain swaps are the core of the product. A user can send ETH▲$2,342.71 on Ethereum and receive SOL▲$100.99 on Solana in one transaction, with the bridging handled by RocketX.
According to RocketX, a dApp can connect the API with a few lines of code. Swaps stay self-custodial. The platform also runs AML checks, and a suspicious transaction can be held until the user verifies their identity. SecureLayer7 and Zokyo are two of the firms that have audited it.
The support line comes from RocketX’s site, which promises 24/7 support and real human support to aid in your integration.
Best for: GameFi projects and multi-chain dApps whose users move between ecosystems.
4. SwapSpace
SwapSpace compares quotes from more than 40 providers, with centralized exchanges and DEXs both in the mix. Its site lists over 3,600 cryptocurrencies on 675 networks.
Every quote shows the expected swap speed. It also shows how likely that provider is to ask for a KYC check. Fixed and floating rates appear side by side, and crypto-to-crypto swaps need no account.
Swaps run inside the partner’s own interface, styled to match the rest of the product. SwapSpace describes the API as white-label, partner support runs 24/7 through a chat in the dashboard.
Partners receive 50% of SwapSpace’s revenue from each completed swap. The affiliate page puts the partner fee at up to 0.5%.
Best for: wallets and Telegram bots that want to show users several quotes before they swap.
5. LI.FI
LI.FI brings bridges and DEX aggregators together behind one API. Its routing covers more than 60 chains, and the API page lists over 50,000 token pairs.
The Standard plan is free to integrate and allows up to 200 requests per minute. Support on this plan runs through LI.FI’s help center, while the Enterprise plan adds a dedicated account manager and SLAs.
LI.FI charges a 0.25% service fee on each transaction. Integrators add their own fee on top, set as a share of the amount the user sends. Depending on the use case and volume, LI.FI may keep a share of the collected fees.
Best for: self-custody wallets and DeFi apps that need same-chain and cross-chain swaps through one API.
Final Thoughts
An early-stage product needs an API that covers the pairs users ask for and pays from the first swap. A missing pair sends a user to another app. Commission terms count just as much, because a small team has to plan revenue before the traffic arrives.
ChangeNOW handles both sides well. Its coverage is broad and its commission can be tuned pair by pair. Fiat is available when the product needs it, and the same integration keeps working as volume grows.
The others answer more specific needs. Flashift gives a team full control of its margin, while RocketX reaches the most tokens. SwapSpace lets users compare quotes from over 40 providers in one place. LI.FI brings bridges and DEXs across 60-plus chains into a single API. The larger platforms in this group take more time to set up, and a small team can easily get lost in everything they cover.
