Shares of SoundHound AI (NASDAQ:SOUN), a developer of voice artificial intelligence (AI) software, trade at $4.86, down 22% over the past month. Measured on a year-to-date basis, SoundHound stock is down 51%.
This slide has occurred during a month when the enterprise software group that includes SoundHound moved higher. Over the past month, the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF (CBOE:IGV) is up 10%. Across that same past-month window, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) is up 2%, suggesting that the broader equities market has held steady.
Meanwhile, shares of Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) are at $239.03, down 3% over the past month, representing a far smaller decline than the drop in SoundHound stock. Shares of ServiceNow (NYSE:NOW) trade at $139.11, up 5% over the past month, moving in the opposite direction from SoundHound stock.
Software Rally Leaves SoundHound Behind
Put together, the figures point to a decline specific to SoundHound stock. Large enterprise vendors selling AI agents, along with the broader software fund, held up or climbed over the same month in which SoundHound shares fell sharply. That pattern rules out the explanation many readers might reach for first: a broad markdown of companies building AI agents.

SoundHound builds conversational voice AI. The software lets a person speak to a drive-through ordering system, a car or a call center and be understood without a menu. Its customers include restaurant chains, automakers and contact-center operators. Each of those buyers signs on through a deployment contract, so revenue arrives one customer win at a time.
