Networking event at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul held alongside AVCJ forum; foundation pledges follow-up support for fund due diligence and joint fund formation
Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation brought together more than 30 representatives of global investment institutions, including Morgan Stanley and Pavilion Capital, to create a forum for direct discussions with Korean venture capital (VC) firms on forming funds.
The foundation said on the 14th that it held a “Global Limited Partners and Korean VC Networking” event jointly with the Korea Venture Capital Association (KVCA) at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul on the 11th. The event was organized in conjunction with the AVCJ Private Equity Forum Korea 2026, a leading forum for Asia’s private equity market, to increase the flow of overseas capital into Korean venture funds.
Face-to-face engagement and trust-building are essential when global limited partners commit capital to Korean funds. But individual Korean VC firms often find it difficult to approach global limited partners on their own. The foundation therefore used the AVCJ forum platform, which features executives from leading global investment institutions as speakers, to significantly expand those connections. It arranged meetings among global limited partners interested in investing in Korea’s venture ecosystem, Korean VC firms seeking to raise capital and Korean limited partners looking to expand their overseas networks.
The foundation plans to provide extensive follow-up support so the event does not end as a one-off meeting. Based on the cooperation needs identified at the event, it will provide support on multiple fronts to advance substantive discussions, including fund due diligence, specific investment reviews and the formation of joint funds.
Through these efforts, the foundation aims to broaden channels for global capital to enter Korea and, ultimately, expand the strong investment base available to promising Seoul-based innovative companies in need of growth capital.
Lee Ji-hyung, chairman of the Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation, said, “The networking event organized with AVCJ and the Korea Venture Capital Association broadened opportunities for both sides to directly assess their investment strategies and management capabilities.” He added, “We will continue providing support so these meetings lead to actual capital commitments and follow-on investments.”
