Accenture has agreed to acquire COMWARE, adding more than 180 professionals and expanding its ability to provide AI-, data- and cloud-powered digital transformation services to mid-market companies in Japan. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
COMWARE specializes in IT implementation and operations, with particular expertise across SAP and customer relationship management technologies. The company’s employees will join Accenture and support continued expansion of Accenture Edge, the firm’s platform focused on providing right-sized transformation services to mid-market organizations.
Founded in September 2000, COMWARE supports Japanese companies across the lifecycle of core business systems, including implementation, development, maintenance and operations.
The company has particular experience serving discrete manufacturing businesses using make-to-order and make-to-plan production models, as well as process manufacturing companies in industries including chemicals and food.
COMWARE has also been an SAP Japan business partner for more than 25 years.
Its SAP practice includes the proprietary COMet implementation template, which is designed to support rapid ERP deployments. More recently, the company expanded into CRM technology as a Salesforce business partner.
Accenture plans to combine COMWARE’s knowledge of Japanese mid-market companies and manufacturing operations with its broader global technology and AI capabilities.
The acquisition is intended to increase Accenture Edge’s ability to deliver more standardized and repeatable transformation programs spanning digital core modernization, AI adoption, security and operational simplification.
Accenture Edge specifically targets mid-market organizations that may need many of the same capabilities deployed by large enterprises but through technology packages and operating models tailored to their size.
The deal also adds established Japanese customer relationships and local implementation expertise to Accenture’s broader organization.
Accenture has approximately 799,000 employees, serves around 9,000 clients and generated approximately $70 billion of fiscal 2025 revenue.
“COMWARE will bring deep knowledge of mid-market companies, exceptional talent, and strong client relationships. Combined with Accenture’s global execution capabilities and AI-driven transformation services, this will enable us to deliver scalable and repeatable transformation services more quickly to a broader range of clients.”
Dai Hamaoka, Representative Director, President And Japan Country Managing Director Of Accenture
“As AI continues to rapidly reshape the industry, we sought greater opportunities to accelerate our growth, and joining Accenture was the decision we needed to make to realize that ambition.”
Tetsu Kayama, President Of COMWARE
