The experts evaluated everything that matters most to freelancers: internet speed, rent and coffee prices, the availability of comfortable coworking spaces, and, of course, places to go for a walk after closing the laptop.

Paris came out on top. Sure, renting an apartment there and drinking coffee at cafés every day isn’t exactly cheap. But that’s more than made up for by fast internet and a huge number of cool places to explore after work meetings.
If work infrastructure is your top priority, you should take a closer look at London, which rounds out the top three destinations. The British capital is a true paradise for those who don’t like staying at home: there are over 560 coworking spaces there. That said, living in the city will set you back a pretty penny. Affordable Countries for Freelancers and Remote Workers
Second place in the ranking went to Lisbon, and this is probably the most balanced option of them all. Portugal’s capital attracts people with its excellent internet, plenty of sunshine, and, most importantly, reasonable prices.
According to the study, you can find a modest apartment there for as little as $270 a month. It’s the perfect choice for living in a warm climate without breaking the bank.

Places to Avoid for Remote Work
Experts also identified cities that could drive any remote worker crazy. The European “blacklist” includes Salzburg in Austria, as well as Munich and Hamburg in Germany. The reasons are simple: housing there is expensive, there aren’t enough places to work comfortably on a laptop, and internet speeds leave much to be desired. So for a “work plus vacation” setup, it’s best to avoid these destinations.
