Honeoye Falls, N.Y. — A state <a href="https://bitcomme.com/ai-startup-cognition-in-new-funding-talks-at-40-billion-value/” title=”AI Startup Cognition in New Funding Talks at $40 Billion Value”>funding boost is set to help a Honeoye Falls nonprofit expand access to its therapeutic programs that connect people with nature, horses and horticulture.
State leaders announced $900,000 in funding Wednesday for the EquiCenter in Honeoye Falls, which serves the local community, especially people living with disabilities, through the therapeutic power of animals and the outdoors.
The money will support upgrades and daily operations, including plans to build a permanent, semi-climate-controlled structure.
“We’re on 200 acres and sometimes it’s hard to make 200 acres accessible to everyone, and we’re not proposing making 200 acres accessible, but certainly the areas that are used by the participants to make sure that all of our programs, whether it’s on the farm or it’s getting from one building to another that anyone that needs assistance with accessibility, like the assemblymember said, needs smoother surfaces, that it’s accessible to them,” said EquiCenter Executive Director Katherine Hatch.
The nonprofit opened in 2004 and has been expanding its services ever since.
