S.C. (FOX Carolina) – AnMed’s Facebook page appeared to be hacked Tuesday morning amid an ongoing cyberattack on the healthcare system
A post was published to the page just after 9:30 a.m. and taken down around 10 a.m.
AnMed said the unauthorized content was removed, access through the platform was disabled and it is working with the provider to secure the accounts.
The post, which featured an image of a character in a top hat and mask labeled “THE GENTLEMEN,” claimed that hackers have extracted six terabytes of confidential corporate and patient data.
According to the post, the compromised information includes highly sensitive patient files, such as:
- Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and home addresses
- Medical histories, lab results, and prescription records
- Reproductive health, abortion, and prenatal records
- Pediatric, psychiatric, and mental health databases
- Sexual assault, harassment, and rape victim records
