Sumner Newscow report — Charlie Cole, a 1967 Wellington High School graduate, was recently inducted into the Kansas State University Herbel Family School of Accountancy Hall of Fame. Cole received the honor after an outstanding career in the accounting profession in Dallas, Texas.
Cole accumulated more than 41 years of accounting and auditing experience during his career, with extensive experience in financial analysis, reporting, and SEC filings. His experience included: oil and gas, manufacturing, healthcare/elderly, retail and wholesale distribution, importing/exporting, trucking/transportation, U.S. subsidiaries of foreign companies, construction, real estate, consumer credit, and post-bankruptcy.

He began his career at BDO, LLP in the Dallas office, rising to Assurance Partner and serving as engagement or concurring partner on a variety of private and SEC engagements. He would eventually leave BDO to be the Chief Financial Officer for a regional retail/import chain before returning to BDO in 2003, where he continued to serve private and publicly held clients.
After he retired, he and his wife, Jan, returned to Manhattan, where they met in college and became KSU Foundation Trustees.
