AI data cloud provider Snowflake announced its intent to acquire Observe, a data observability platform. The acquisition would allow for telemetry and business intelligence data to be available in a unified platform.

Observe’s AI Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) combined with Snowflake’s high-fidelity data would provide proactive monitoring, automating troubleshooting, and product issue resolution.

Together, Snowflake and Observe would be able to expand observability and operations capabilities and create a unified environment for data. It would lower costs for customers and allow for longer data retention, as well as make telemetry more central in enterprise data, rather than having it in a siloed stream.
Snowflake’s intended acquisition of Observe would allow for an expansion of the AI data cloud through Observe’s AI Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), which would allow data teams to have access to proactive monitoring, automated troubleshooting and quicker resolution of production issues, as well as a unified context graph for logs, metrics and traces. They will be able to detect issues and what causes them faster, aiding in faster resolution.
The acquisition would provide customers with a unified platform for observability telemetry and business data, allowing for easier analysis. This will mean observability telemetry will be treated as core data instead of being in siloed streams, thus boosting data clouds’ ability to faster insights and longer data retention at a lower cost. Snowflake’s buy of Observe would also use an open-standard architecture of Apache Iceberg and OpenTelemetry to automate the process of collecting, measuring and moving large volumes of data in software, also known as telemetry. Telemetry can then be used to foster AI agents and applications.

Snowflake began its acquisition talks in December 2025. There have been no updates about an expected closing date. Snowflake has made other significant moves this year, such as joining companies like Salesforce and BlackRock to form theOpen Semantic Interchange(OSI) – which aims to create a standardized semantic model for metadata – andSnowflake’s partnership with Microsoftto connect its AI Data Cloud to the Microsoft Power Platform.
