Neb. (KOLN) -Outside Makenna Brown’s home, her porch is stocked with baked goods for sale, ready for locals with a sweet tooth. What began as a small honor-system baking stand is now growing into a business Brown hopes will reach customers across Lincoln
Brown signed up for a booth at the Maker’s Market at Canoyer Garden Center to expand her customer base.
Selling at her first market came with uncertainty, including what to make and how much to bring. Within four hours, Brown was nearly sold out. Her apple pie and cinnamon roll muffins were her best sellers.
“I like seeing how people, like, see something and their head shoots and I like just being able to see what people are interested in… it makes me happy that people are liking what I’m doing,” Brown said.
The Maker’s Market featured 15 booths of local small businesses, ranging from crocheted bags and henna art to honey and homemade jewelry.
