Okla. (KSWO) – The Lawton Farmers Market hosted its annual Pickle Festival on Saturday, drawing crowds to 77 Southwest 4th Street from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m
The event featured contests for homemade pickles and a pickle-eating showdown for adults later in the morning.
Organizers said the festival has become a community favorite, with attendees showing up not only for the event but to support the market overall.
“I would say again, the public… like how many people come out to support, uh. Really makes us feel like we’re providing something for our community, not only for the festival itself, but just as a market as a whole,” said Katelyn John, Lawton Farmers Market.
Festival attendee Cynthia Baylor said the draw goes beyond the pickles.
“I think it’s also coming out and getting fresh vegetables, some fruit from our own hometown,” Baylor said.
The festival concluded with the crowning of a Pickle Queen and King, honoring the winners of the pickle-eating contest. Each winner received a special t-shirt and a crown.
