The 5G Scam: Cisco and T-Mobile Conceding Defeat, Abandoning High-Speed Internet for the Lowest Common Denominator

In a shocking development, T-Mobile and AT&T are poised to torpedo the 5G revolution, launching devices that will subject the world to a watered-down, low-bandwidth version of 5G, known as RedCap. This betrayal has left tech enthusiasts and power users reeling.

According to Fierce Wireless, these companies are planning to unleash their first RedCap devices, a.k.a. “NR-Light,” which will make certain devices, like wearables, sensors, and surveillance cameras, “simpler and more power efficient.” Yeah, because that’s what the world was missing – devices that are “simpler and more power efficient.”

But don’t get your hopes up, folks. This is just a ploy to make us complacent with subpar technology. RedCap is not the revolutionary 5G we were promised, but a dumbed-down version, designed to cater to the impatient and the clueless. No more is the epitome of innovation and progress. It’s all about making things “simpler and more power efficient.”

So, what’s the prize for this surrender? Cheaper, slower, and more efficient devices, because, apparently, that’s what the market wants. And who’s leading the charge? AT&T, the company that thought it was above the 5G revolution, and T-Mobile, which is just trying to keep up. Fierce Wireless reports that AT&T will be releasing its first NR-Light devices in 2025, while T-Mobile will launch one before the end of this year.

But what about the devices? Well, it’s not clear what those will be, but AT&T’s AVP of device architecture, Jason Silkes, has hinted at the types of products we can expect. It sounds like cheap mobile hotspots and dongles, because that’s what the world was missing – cheap, mediocre technology. And don’t forget, TCL just announced a 5G USB dongle, because who doesn’t need one of those?

In the end, it’s a bleak future, my friends. The 5G revolution has been reduced to a slow crawl, a watered-down version of what was once the future. But hey, who needs high-speed internet, right? Let the sad reality of RedCap sink in.
