Eskom Forcing You to Go Electric

    Published on:

The EV Revolution Has Arrived, and Eskom is at the Forefront!

Eskom, the behemoth electricity utility, has partnered with Gridcars to drop a bombshell of innovation: a slew of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations popping up across South Africa like magic! This bold move has the potential to change the game for electric transportation, and we’re here for it!

These charging stations, equipped with direct current (DC) fast chargers capable of delivering a whopping 60kW of power, are not for the faint of heart. The 22kW dual alternating current (AC) chargers are perfect for workplace charging and fleet vehicles – because, let’s face it, we’re going green and we’re going all-in!

"This initiative will set the stage for a fleet-wide switch to electric vehicles, aligning us with our 2050 goal of net-zero carbon emissions," declares Eskom. "It’s a win-win for the planet, and we’re proud to lead the charge (pun intended)."

The pilot project isn’t just a feel-good exercise, though. Eskom is investing in 20 new EVs, ranging from humble delivery vans to sturdy trucks, and installing 10 charging stations at five key locations across the country.

So, where are these trailblazing sites? Get ready to charge up in:

    Midrand, Johannesburg
    Brackenfell, Cape Town
    Mkondeni, Pietermaritzburg
    Tlhabane Customer Network Centre, Rustenburg
    Marathon Customer Network Centre, Mbombela

The Future is Here, and it’s Electric!

GridCars and Eskom Distribution are blazing a trail towards a 2040 goal of electrifying their entire fleet – and we’re along for the ride! These developments are paving the way for an electric future in South Africa’s transportation landscape. Buckle up, folks, the EV revolution is accelerating!
