Why is it so hard to drop someone off my auto insurance?

Son got his license. Apparently, he is required to be insured even though he doesn’t drive my car. I get it, license and all.

But he has now moved out of the house, to a different state. I go to drop him. They say they need proof he has moved out. Great, I submit his residental lease agreement at new place. Not good enough

Then they say they need proof he has his own insurance. HE DOESN’T OWN A CAR. What kind of insurance do they expect him to have? Insurance policy on a hot wheels ford racer ?

Then they say that was a mistake, but instead on top of his lease agreement, they need further proof, such as utility bill. seriously? I have to pay another month or so (however long it takes for his first bill statement to close and mail out) just because they refuse to take a lease agreement as proof he doesn’t live in the house with me?

Is this a joke? I don’t get why it’s so hard to do this. Almost want to cancel and go with another company. Heck, they even said to get it faster to get a bank statement showing charges in the known area of his new place. Not sure how that even counts considering he is allowed to move out of the house, but move to the same city if he wanted, so what does that even prove?

I just want him off my policy

Edit: Policy is with Geico
