[MI] Storing cars at multiple addresses.

I’m a car enthusiast and currently own five cars while living in an apartment complex with car park on the site. When I bought the newest car last week, I inquired with a leasing agent about renting another parking spot for the car and two people from management overheard the conversation, came over and interjected, telling me that I have too many cars and that I would be encroaching on other residents if I take up too many spaces.

We do have street parking but it is very limited and I do not want to leave a car there as it is on a backstreet where its is pretty common to see car windows broken out. I came back and informed them of this but they said they didn’t care and to just call the police if I see suspicious people outside. They then sent an official letter saying to me saying I am barred from asking for any additional parking spots.

I have been calling around to a few carports, my friends, and management at my storage unit to see if I can store my car somewhere else but I’m concerned how to handle this with my insurance. The closest place is about 3 miles away and furthest is about 18 miles away. I remember calling my insurance co a few years ago to inquire about my storing car at my storage unit and they said that not really something they get into because its a fine line between storing cars and insurance fraud.

But now I’m in a situation where I have to get into it as I would like to avoid a claim. The places I called say that I must have a copy of active insurance on file so I have to carry insurance. Since I’m looking at friend’s houses storage units, car ports to store, these address are not owned by me and the car so the car can’t be registered/titled to that address.I also plan on switching the cars out so that would also cause a headache. I would like to be honest with the situation with my insurance so everything is legit. That is why I am asking here first so I have a game plan on how to address this my insurance company.
